Aerolog FAQ
Why do we need Aerolog?
The committee unanimously decided to purchase Aerolog as there was a need for better and up to date management information.
What does Aerolog give us?
Details of where our income comes from. The ability to pay our flying fees monthly saving hassle after a day’s flying. It generates a central database so we can stay in touch with the membership. It eases the burden on the Membership Secretary (Graham Northcott), the Club Treasurers (Graham Bartle and Geoff Tilley)
How do we now pay our flying fees?
At the end of each month you will be sent a statement of how much you owe. You can pay this by cheque, debit card or by BACS transfer. The best way to pay is through the clubs website, although cheques can be sent to Graham Bartle at the address printed on the statement. If you would like to pay by direct bank transfer, please email office@sussexgliding.co.uk and the account details will be emailed to you.
When will I recieve my statement?
The statement will be emailed or posted to you shortly after the end of a month.
Why have we been asked to pay a £50 deposit?
This is because if you decide to pay monthly then by the end of a month you will owe a month’s flying and the £50 is to cover the club's lack of cash flow for that month. Other clubs ask for £100. If you start using your flying fee account as a credit account without paying a deposit it will be assumed that you are opening a credit account and a £50 deposit will be charged
Will the £50 show on my statement?
No as it is a refundable deposit. It is held separately and will be returned to you if you leave the club.
What happens to the other fees I pay the club?
We have opened a separate account to receive all the clubs income. This is for two reasons: Firstly, we need all the income to go through Aerolog and, secondly, for management purposes it breaks the finances into its two separate parts and we have an income treasurer and an expenditure treasurer.
What if I don’t want to pay a deposit?
You must pay the flying fees on the day. Please reconsider this as you are making extra work for the volunteers in our club. The majority of active members have now opened an account which is fantastic!
What if I have a query on my statement?
If you have a query on your account, please send an email detailing the nature of your query to accounts@sussexgliding.co.uk.
Do I need an email address?
It is not essential but if you do have one please let the membership secretary know of any changes as soon as possible. Email is the preferred method of communication as it is the cheapest for the club.
How do I claim expenses from the club?
An expenses claim form has been added to the forms page. The completed form should be handed to Geoff Tilley or left in his pigeon hole.
