RT procedures ESGC  
Note; radios utilising 129.975 with be referred to as VHF, Handheld radios as UHF.

  • VHF frequency 129.975 will replace 129.9 as the glider information frequency. It shall be used for within 10nm of Ringmer up to a height of 3,000 ft.
  • UHF handheld radios will be used solely on the ground.
  • Motor gliders and tug will continue to use VHF and liase with Control van.
  • Aerotow will be controlled as now by visual signals and VHF.
  • Winch and ground vehicles will be controlled by UHF.
  • All powered aircraft shall make standard calls prior to take off. All aircraft should make standard calls prior to landing.
  • Good RT discipline is to be maintained at all times and inappropriate communications are forbidden e.g. communication between the tug and launch point re: release heights.
  • Example of Call: "Ringmer Traffic, Juliet Kilo Alpha, downwind, left hand base for 06/24. Winch does not need to reply."

Mutual flying
Mutual flying in the club two seaters is permitted provided that the following conditions are met:

  • P1 must be current, hold a Silver badge or higher certificate, have at least 50 hours PI on gliders and have his/her logbook endorsed and signed by the CFI or deputy.
  • P2 must have the minimum of a Bronze “C” and at least 10 hours P.1
  • P1 is to be designated before the flight and must occupy the front seat. Where both pilots have silver, either may carry out any phase of the flight.
  • Where P2 has Bronze P1 must carry out launch and landing.
