Pilot Medical Requirements
The BGA's Pilot Medical Requirements
Note – These are the current BGA requirements. Pilots are reminded of the need to ensure that they hold the relevant valid medical certificate. In general a UK driving licence is sufficient medical requirement to fly a glider, however for some activities a higher level of medical fitness to fly will apply. Please read the BGA's requirements by clicking the button below.

All pilots are also reminded that blood alcohol levels for flying are lower than those for driving and that the effect of any drugs or medication taken must not impair you whatsoever. If in doubt consult with your instructor in the first instance, who may then refer you to an appropriate medical practitioner for further advice.
